Freeman Quarry Reclamation Project
Gilroy, Santa Clara County, California
The Freeman Quarry Reclamation Project is a post-mining reclamation project to satisfy the requirements of Santa Clara County’s Use Permit and Reclamation Plan. CAInc’s project responsibility involved a total quantity of approximately 450k cubic yards. This consisted of 1:1 (H:V) cut slopes and a 100±ft height 2:1 engineered fill slope with 15±ft wide benches at 40±ft vertical spacing and a 8±ft deep, 26±ft wide keyway at the bottom of the fill slope. The engineered fill had a 95% relative compaction standard, which required close attention to material type and moisture conditioning. The fill slope was constructed ahead of schedule; Granite Construction Company was notably impressed with Crawford’s professionalism and experience in the field and with deliverables.
